New Hudson Valley K-9 Named After Officer Killed In Motorcycle Crash
A police department in the Hudson Valley has reestablished its K-9 unit and named its new four-legged rookie after an officer who was killed in a motorcycle crash. In Putnam County, the Carmel Police Department's new K-9 officer, Pietro, is named after Officer Gary Pietropaolo, who was killed in an off-duty motorcycle crash on June 7, 2018, according to police. Halloween DWIs: Police In Putnam County Warn Against Drunk Driving
Police in Putnam County are warning people not to drive drunk as Halloween fast approaches. To help spread the word, police agencies will participate in efforts to bring awareness to the danger of driving while impaired, said Putnam County Sheriff Kevin McConville. The Carmel and Kent Police Departments are also participating, McConville said. An investigation is underway after a fatal crash involving three vehicles on a busy roadway in the area. It happened around 4:05 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18 in Carmel. Putnam Sheriff 'Clears The Air' After Phone Call Recording With Carmel Supervisor Released
Putnam County Sheriff Robert Langley, Jr. is looking to “clear the air” after a recording of a telephone call he had with Carmel Town Supervisor Ken Schmitt was released to the public. In September, the recording between the two elected officials was leaked by a Putnam County Watchdog Group regarding Schmitt possibly joining the “Langley Administration” at the end of the year. A person described as being "in crisis" was hospitalized following an hours-long standoff with responders at a residence in the area. More reliable power is coming to thousands of Putnam County residents as NYSEG kicks off an extensive project to make improvements to the power grid in Carmel. New York State Electric & Gas announced a pair of projects - one on the north side of town along Horsepound Road and one in the southern part of Carmel, along Stebbings Road.
