Sheriff: Fairfield County Woman Driving Without Lights On Faces DWI Charge
A Fairfield County woman was busted by Putnam County Sheriff's deputies for DWI after they spotted her driving without lights. Mary K. Villaverde, 63, of Brookfield was arrested around 2:20 a.m., Saturday, March 24, when Deputy Sheriff Joseph Sadowski observed a car on Main Street in the Village of Brewster without any lights on and crossing into the oncoming lane of traffic, the department said. Sadowski stopped the vehicle and determined Villaverde was intoxicated. She was charged with driving while intoxicated with a BAC of .16%. Villaverde is due to appear in the Village of Brewster J…

16-Year-Old Arrested After Brookfield Social Media Threat
A 16-year-old Brookfield High School student has been arrested for posting a threat on social media posing with a gun and saying something might happen at the school. Police responded to the school Wednesday after three students notified administrators of the post from the night before that had concerned them, said Brookfield Police Capt. Peter Frengs. BJ’s Will Offer Chainwide Instacart Delivery
BJ’s Wholesale Club is making shopping easier for East Coast shoppers, announcing its intention to expand its same-day delivery partnership with Instacart. Officials from the popular retailer announced this week that it will now offer the service to all of its membership clubs no later than the end of April, following a lengthy pilot program at 18 stores in the region, a spokesperson said. Six Injured In Two-Car Route 7 Rollover Crash
Two vehicles collided and both subsequently rolled over, with a total of six injuries reported in a serious crash on Route 7 North in Brookfield on Saturday, Feb. 10. The Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company requested the assistance of Danbury for a serious motor vehicle crash. The Danbury Fire Department, under command of Deputy Chief Bernie Meehan responded with Car 30, Engine 24, Squad 1, a City EMS Ambulance, and a Danbury Ambulance Service unit. Woman To Be Sentenced In Drunk Driving Death Of Manhattanville Student
The Westchester County woman who pleaded guilty to drinking, driving and killing a 21-year-old Manhattanville College lacrosse player is due to be sentenced this week. Rye resident Emma Fox, 26, is scheduled to be sentenced on Wednesday for her role in the fatal crash that took the life of Fishkill resident Robby Schartner, who graduated from Brookfield, Conn., High School and formerly lived in Putnam County, in Garrison.
