Woman Extricated In Two-Vehicle I-84 Crash
A woman was extricated after a two-vehicle crash on I-84 late Saturday night. The crash occurred just before 11 p.m. in Bethel between exits 8 and 9, where responders from Bethel, Danbury and Brookfield converged on the scene. Danbury Engine 24 was the first unit to arrive, finding the woman injured and unable to get out of a small minivan that was on its side, said James Gagliardo, public information officer of the Danbury Fire Department. Seven Westchester Residents Charged With DWI By State Police
With law enforcement agencies in the Hudson Valley continuing their crackdown on drunk, drugged and distracted driving, several local residents were among two dozen motorists who found themselves charged with DWI offenses in the area this past week. Local residents charged were: Westchester County On Friday, Sept. 7, State Police from Brewster arrested Michele Drella, 53, of Mount Kisco, for DWI. Motorcyclist Injured In Route 7 Crash
This story has been updated. There were stop-and-go delays on a stretch of Route 7 in Fairfield County early Sunday after a crash involving a motorcycle. The crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. on northbound Route 7 near Route 202/Federal Road in Brookfield. The extent of the motorcyclist's injuries were not immediately released. I-84 Crash Causes Gridlock During Morning Commute
This story has been updated. A serious crash that initially took out two lanes caused gridlock on a stretch of I-84 Thursday morning. The crash occurred around 7:15 a.m. on the westbound side at Route 7/202 (Exit 7) in Danbury, with delays to Connecticut 25 (Exit 9) in Brookfield before it was cleared. Popular School Administrator In Northern Westchester Dies At 53
A popular school administrator in Northern Westchester and youth sports coach in Fairfield County has died at age 53. Brian Davidson was assistant principal at Fox Lane Middle School in Bedford who worked in the Bedford Central School District for 20 years. He also served as a guidance counselor during that time. Davidson had been on leave for the past year, according to BCSD Superintendent of Schools Christopher Manno. He died on Thursday, Aug. 16. Once a rare sight, the black bear is making a comeback in Fairfield County -- and statewide. The Connecticut State Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) reported that a total of 7,493 black bear sightings have been reported in Connecticut in the past year, from Aug. 10, 2017 to Aug. 5 of this year, including hundreds in Fairfield County. With local and state police agencies cracking down on drunk, drugged and distracted driving, several local residents were among nearly two dozen in the area who found themselves on the wrong side of the law. A wild police chase that started in Newtown and continued through Bridgeport ended with a crash, a foot chase and a home invasion, according to Connecticut State Police. The incident began around 6:45 p.m. Monday when Troop A was notified by the Bridgeport and Newtown police departments that they were in pursuit of a 2014 white Honda Accord that was wanted for transporting firearms, state police said. A Fairfield County woman was busted by Putnam County Sheriff's deputies for DWI after they spotted her driving without lights. Mary K. Villaverde, 63, of Brookfield was arrested around 2:20 a.m., Saturday, March 24, when Deputy Sheriff Joseph Sadowski observed a car on Main Street in the Village of Brewster without any lights on and crossing into the oncoming lane of traffic, the department said.
