Man Convicted Of Torturing, Killing Girlfriend's Pets At Her Home In Hudson Valley
A man has admitted to torturing and killing his former girlfriend’s two pets inside her Hudson Valley home. Matthew Savinovich pleaded guilty in a Putnam County Court Tuesday, April 26, to two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals, one count of torturing animals, and one count of attempted burglary. Investigators said Savinovich, a New Jersey resident from the borough of Norwood in Bergen County, admitted to killing two of the woman’s chihuahuas by slamming them against a wall in her Lake Peekskill home. Man Accused Of Throwing Dog Against Wall In Area
An area man is facing an animal cruelty charge after police said he threw a dog against a wall. Troopers responded to a report of a domestic dispute in the Ulster County town of Shawangunk at about 11:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 8, New York State Police reported. When troopers arrived, they saw the person who made the report outside of the home on Lakewood Road, holding a small dog, police said. A serial animal abandoner from Dutchess County is facing charges after being busted by the Putnam County SPCA for allegedly trapping and leaving a neighbor’s cat in the woods, authorities announced. Man Charged With Arson Of Family Home That Killed Dog In Area, Police Say
A Hudson Valley man has been charged with arson and cruelty to animals in connection with a fire at his parent's home that killed the family dog. Orange County resident Brett Bayo, age 29, from the town of Greenville was arrested by New York State Police for third-degree arson and aggravated cruelty to animals, both felonies. According to Trooper Steven Nevel, an investigation found that on Thursday, Sept. 23, Bayo set his parent's residence on fire. His parents were not at home at the time of the fire. A 27-year-old man is facing charges for allegedly killing his ex-girlfriend's pets over the course of a year, authorities announced. Dog Dies After Being Struck By Hit-Run Driver In Westchester
A dog was killed after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Westchester, police said. At approximately 9:20 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 20, a dog got loose on Mamaroneck Road near the intersection of Deerfield Lane in Scarsdale when he was struck by a driver who proceeded to speed off. Police said the owner found the dog on the south side of the roadway after it was struck, but it had already died. Ten people were rescued and 89 dogs rescued following an investigation into an alleged interstate dogfighting ring on Long Island, the District Attorney announced. A Hudson Valley man was arrested and is facing animal cruelty charges after allegedly abusing a pit bull in his care “for an extended period of time,” the SPCA announced. Authorities are seeking information after 10 abandoned guinea pigs were found in the area. The six females and four males were discovered in a small plastic tub on a walkway near a residence on Putnam Avenue in the Village of Brewster, the Putnam County SPCA said on Thursday, Sept. 17.
