Westport Police Officer Stops Wrong-Way Driver Entering Merritt Parkway WESTPORT, Conn. — A police officer who cut off a drunken driver heading the wrong way on a Merritt Parkway exit ramp Friday night may have prevented a tragedy, according to Westport police. At around 9:15 p.m., Officer David Scinto saw a vehicle attempting to enter the Exit 41 northbound off ramp, according to Lt. Jillian Cabana. Residents of the Success Village apartment complex off Success Avenue were being moved by the city’s Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security after the 10:45 p.m. incident, Harris said. City workers set up cots for those who might need shelter, but as of 3 a.m.  Saturday, no one had sought refuge, Harris said.

Pedestrian, 66, Dies After Bridgeport Hit And Run Crash BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A Bridgeport man struck in a hit and run Friday night has died as the result of his injuries. Nathaniel Dubose, 66, was walking on the 600 block of Sylvan Avenue around 8:10 p.m. when he was hit by a grey or silver car traveling south on the roadway, according to police spokesman Av Harris. The driver fled the scene. Dubose sustained severe head trauma and was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center, where he died, Harris said. The investigation is ongoing. Increased patrols began at 12:01 a.m. Friday and will continue through 11:59 p.m. Monday. State Police: Ansonia Man Killed In Crash With Box Truck On Route 8 TRUMBULL, Conn. — An Ansonia man was killed Friday when he drove his pickup truck into the back of a box truck on Route 8, state police said. William Pollock, 55, of Lester Street, was initially conscious and alert after the 5:30 p.m. crash, but he quickly became unresponsive and was pronounced dead at Bridgeport Hospital, police said. The crash occurred just north of Exit 8 in the southbound lanes.
