John Jay High School in East Fishkill is closed for in-person instruction on Tuesday, Nov. 24, and remain so until after the Thanksgiving holiday break, school officials said.

A notice will be sent to parents by Sunday, Nov. 29, to determine if the school can return to its hybrid learning plan, officials said.

The infected person has not been in the school since Thursday, Nov. 19, and is currently in isolation per the guidance of the Dutchess County Health Department.

The latest case is not related to the case reported on Saturday, Nov. 21, which due to the impact on staffing led to this week's switch to all remote learning, school officials said.

All contact tracking is being performed and those who had been in close contact with the infected person have been notified.

"Please know that we will make every effort to resume our Hybrid Learning Schedule as soon as practical at John Jay High School, said Dr. Dwight Bonk, acting superintendent for Wappingers Central School District. "Teachers will do their best to contact each student via Google Meets or with phone calls as appropriate."

Students and parents are encouraged to check the school website for updates.
