Maloney defeated Republican challenger Phil Oliva of Somers in the fall elections.
His district includes Putnam County, southern Dutchess County, parts of northern Westchester and Orange County.
As a member of the 115th Congress, Maloney will continue to serve as an integral member of both the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the House Committee on Agriculture.
At his swearing-in ceremony Tuesday, the young congressman said he was thrilled to be able to serve “Hudson Valley veterans, businesses and hardworking families for another two years.”
He promised to continue fighting for the creation of good paying jobs, to protect Social Security and Medicare, and to support legislation that “invests” in local infrastructure.
Looking back, Maloney said he has helped pass 25 pieces of legislation into law.
He also credited his work over the past four years with “returning $6.3 million to local taxpayers.”
“I can’t wait to continue getting things done for my neighbors in the Hudson Valley and across New York,” Maloney said.
He was accompanied at the ceremony by his husband, Randy Florke, and their two daughters, Daley and Essie.
