Alan C. Wheeler, 30, was also charged with failing to operate a motor vehicle equipped with an interlock device, police said.
Troopers were dispatched Sunday, Jan. 31, to assist a disabled motorist on Route 22. An investigation revealed, police said, that the driver, Wheeler, was intoxicated.
He was charged with felony DWI when a criminal history revealed a previous DWI-related conviction from 2013, police said.
Wheeler was arraigned in the Town of Kent Justice Court and held at the Putnam County Jail on $500 cash bail, police said.
He is scheduled to appear in Southeast Town Court on Tuesday, Feb. 9.
