Hyde Park Teen Charged With Rape

HYDE PARK, N.Y. -- An 18-year-old from Hyde Park was charged with felony rape on Wednesday after having sexual intercourse without the victim's consent, according to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office.

Jorge G. Martinez was arrested on a third-degree rape charge for an incident that occurred early Tuesday, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Martinez was arrested on Wednesday after an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau. At this time, he is accused of engaging in sexual intercourse with the victim without their consent. Martinez and the victim are known to each other, so no further information will be released at this time due to the sensitive nature of the incident, according to Capt. John Watterson, spokesman for the Sheriff's Office.

After being processed, Martinez was arraigned before the Town of Hyde Park Court and was sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail. The investigation is continuing, and anyone who has information in relation to this or other sexual assault-type incidents is asked to contact Detective Franceschi at 845-486-3820.
