Members of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit on Patrol received reports last fall that Kent resident Dalton McMann was distributing psilocybin throughout the county.

The investigation into the sale of the mushrooms led investigators to McMann, 20, who was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 8, the Sheriff’s Department announced this week. During the investigation, an undercover officer purchased mushrooms from McMann, officials said.

McMann was charged with one count of fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both felonies, and one count of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Following his arrest, McMann was released and is scheduled to appear in court later this year to respond to the charges.
