A section of a busy road in the Hudson Valley was closed for an extended period of time following a serious crash. The incident happened in Putnam County on Wednesday evening, Aug. 14, when vehicles collided on Route 6 (Carmel Avenue) in the village of Brewster between North Main Street and Putnam Avenue, according to the Brewster Fire Department. Alert Issued For Missing Hudson Valley Teen
Authorities are asking for the public's help in finding a missing 18-year-old man who was last seen in Westchester. Jasiah Jones was reported missing on Thursday, Aug. 15 after last being seen on Jackson Avenue in Yonkers on Wednesday, Aug. 14 at around 10:20 p.m., according to the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services. Jones, who is 5-foot-5 and 150 pounds, is believed to be suicidal and may be in need of medical attention, officials said. He is a Black man with black hair and brown eyes. State Trooper From Region Suspended Without Pay After Being Accused Of Robbery
A New York State Trooper has been suspended without pay following his arrest for an alleged robbery in the region. The arrest occurred in Sullivan County in the village of Liberty on Tuesday, Aug. 13, for an incident in 2023. According to Beau Duffy, director of Public Information for the State Police, Trooper Christopher DiBartolo, age 47, was charged following an investigation into an incident that occurred outside a Liberty home in which he took personal property from the victim, who was known to him, while on duty, causing damage. Fatal Crash: 31-Year-Old ID'd As Victim In Hudson Valley
A 31-year-old motorist was killed after crashing into a tree. The incident happened around 8:15 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, in Columbia County. An investigation determined that a motorcycle driven by Schenectady County resident Randall D. Collins, age 31, of the town of Glenville, was traveling east on Route 28 in the town of Kinderhook when he went off the south shoulder, through a field and struck a tree, according to New York State Police. Collins was pronounced dead at the scene. Niverville Fire and Greenport Rescue assisted state police. The investigation is ongoing.

School Employee Hospitalized After Explosion At Maintenance Building In Westchester
A 69-year-old man from the Hudson Valley was injured in an explosion inside a school district maintenance building in Westchester that also caused a small fire. The incident happened on Tuesday, Aug. 13 just before 1:20 p.m., when an oil tank explosion was reported at a Mamaroneck School District maintenance building and garage at 119 Gertrude Ave., according to Lt. A Hudson Valley woman was charged with alleged DWI at more than twice the legal limit when police responded to a hit-and-run crash. The incident occurred in Rockland County around 9:15 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 11, on South Little Tor Road in New City. A man from the region has been charged with two counts of allegedly endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person and forcible touching. Following an investigation, Dutchess County resident Garnet G. Collins, age 50, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested on Sunday, Aug. 11. According to Trooper Aaron Hicks of the New York State Police, Collins was an employee at the Anderson Center for Autism in Staatsburg, a hamlet of Hyde Park. A Hudson Valley man was killed after crashing an SUV into the center median guardrail on Route 17. The incident occurred in Orange County at 7:50 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 10, on Route 17 westbound near Exit 122 in Wallkill. Man Rescued From Water Below Dam In Northern Westchester
First responders had to make their way through traffic before saving a man from the water below a dam in Northern Westchester. The rescue happened just before 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10, when a man became trapped in the water below the Croton Dam's spillway, according to the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department.
