The visitation for Raphael Teixeira, 19, will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. at Yorktown Funeral Home, 945 E. Main St. in Yorktown.
Teixeira died around 3:48 p.m. following the accident at Putnam Hospital where he was transported by the Mahopac Ambulance, said Lt. John Dearman.
According to Dearman, Teixeira was riding north on Route 6 when he struck the tractor-trailer, shutting down the highway for more than three hours as officers investigated the crash.
The initial police investigation and statements from independent eyewitnesses revealed that Teixeira, a local electrician, was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed on his motorcycle while using the shoulder of Route 6 to pass cars that had slowed in traffic, Dearman said.
The motorcycle collided with a tractor-trailer that was making a right hand turn into Mahopac Railroad Tie from the northbound lane, he added.
The driver of the tractor-trailer truck was uninjured and was released from the scene following the investigation, Dearman added.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 1377 E. Main St. in Shrub Oak. Burial will follow at Kensico Cemetery, 273 Lakeview Ave., in Valhalla.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help pay for the funeral and his car payments. To date, $11,000 of the $15,000 goal has been donated.
