SOUTHEAST, N.Y. -- Multiple vehicle accidents occurred in Southeast on Thursday, with one of them involving a trooper's vehicle, according to Melissa McMorris, a spokeswoman with the state police.
The trooper's vehicle was struck on Interstate 84 at around 9 a.m., according to McMorris. The trooper, who was outside of the vehicle when it was hit, was checking on someone on the side of the road to see if they were ok, McMorris added.
The accident involving the trooper's vehicle caused a chain reaction for other accidents, according to McMorris.
A near ramp for Interstate 684 was closed for several hours, McMorris said.
Meanwhile, LoHud reports that a woman was injured after her vehicle struck a tree at nearby Fields Lane near the North Salem border. McMorris confirmed that there was a vehicle accident on Fields Lane but did not have further information at the moment.
