EAST FISHKILL, N.Y. -- A serious accident involving a new fire truck being delivered to Long Island has resulted in heavy delays for hours on I-84 Tuesday in East Fishkill.
East-bound traffic was at a standstill after the noon incident and stop-and-go rubber-necking delays were also reported westbound.
The incident occurred at Lime Kiln Road (Exit 15) in East Fishkill with backups to Route 9.
The fire truck went off the road while the rig carrying it was not damaged.
An investigation of the cause of the crash is under way.
