Putnam Valley Democrats Pick Sherry Howard For Town Clerk Race

PUTNAM VALLEY, N.Y. -- The Putnam Valley Democratic Committee has added Sherry Howard to its slate of candidates for town offices in November 2015.

Howard will run for town clerk, joining former six-term county Legislator Sam Oliverio the Democratic candidate for town supervisor, on the ticket.

Howard brings a long history of public service and professional experience to her candidacy. Having been employed with the Putnam Valley Department of Parks and Recreation since 1999, she has been senior clerk of the department since 2005. 

Howard also serves as president of the Putnam Valley Historical Society, is an active member of the Putnam Valley Democratic Committee, is liaison to the Continental Village District Advisory Commission and volunteers with Caitlyn’s Fight, She was a member of the Town’s 175th Anniversary Committee, and was awarded the prestigious Robert J. Uplinger Award from the Lion’s Club for Distinguished Community Service.

She also served as vice president of CSEA Local 840 for nine years. Howard earned a bachelor of arts in political science from Hunter College and is a past member of New York Public Interest Research Group’s Speakers Bureau.
