Masey Moshref, 27, recently pleaded guilty to felony second-degree attempted criminal possession of a weapon, according to court records.
The conviction stemmed from a July 30 incident near the I-684 interchange in Southeast. during which Moshref acknowledged driving aggressively on I-84 and shooting a Glock 9mm semi-automatic pistol at another vehicle, according to the District Attorney’s office.
Officers also said they found some psychedelic mushrooms in Moshref’s vehicle.
An uninvolved motorist filmed the incident, which helped New York State Police troopers apprehend Moshref in East Fishkill.
“We congratulate the New York State Police for their quick work in apprehending Mr. Moshref before the situation became more serious,” District Attorney Adam Levy said in a press release.
He especially lauded the performance of Investigators Peter Ciacci and Chaderick Greer.
After serving out his prison sentence, Moshref will have three more years of supervised probation, according to court records.
The District Attorney’s office hopes to seize Moshref’s green Honda Accord, which they say was used in the crime.
