Officials from the company said that transactions that took pace in physical retail locations from April 2014 moving forward are being investigated, but that online purchases appear to be safe, Forbes reported.
Home Depot is offering free identity protection services and credit monitoring to all customers who may have been affected by the breach, Forbes said.
Payment data breaches can prove to be costly. A similar breach in Target stores last year cost the company more than $100 million, according to Forbes.
