Brewster Man, 25, Accused Of Rape

BREWSTER, N.Y. -- A 25-year-old Brewster man is accused of having sexual relations with a 15-year-old girl and has been charged with rape, according to state police. The girl cannot give sexual consent due to her age, police noted.

The man, Jorge Elisandro Cardona, was charged with two counts of third-degree rape, which are felonies.

State Police reported receiving a child abuse referral, which came from Mount Kisco Police. State Police allege that she repeatedly went to Brewster with the defendant.

Cardona, police noted, was arraigned in Southeast's court and remanded to Putnam County Jail. This was done, according to police, in lieu of $25,000 for cash bail or $50,000 worth of bond.

Police also said that Cardona is a citizen of Guatemala.
