No wonder - the Walkway has become hugely popular because of its spectacular views of the Hudson, north and south. It's also a great place to bike, walk meet friends, take photographs and watch fireworks on July 4, as well as appreciate the history of the area.

The Walkway - which opened in 2009 after being purchased 11 years earlier - spans the Hudson from Poughkeepsie to Newburgh, and is the world's largest pedestrian park.

A Walkway organization oversees events and manages a Walkway 'Ambassador Corps,' a group of more than 125 volunteers from communities in Ulster and Dutchess counties.

Ambassadors provide an array of services at the park, from serving as tour guides to providing assistance to elderly and disabled visitors.
