Putnam County Medication Take Back Event Returns Nov. 1

PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- Individuals can dispose of prescription medication, over the counter medication and pet medication at the next Medication Take Back Event on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Putnam Hospital Center’s Wagner Cancer Pavilion.

Medications must be kept in the original package. No sharps of any kind, lancets, syringes or epi pens will be accepted.  

The Medication Take Back initiative encourages Putnam County residents to do the following:

  • Take inventory of prescription, over-the-counter medicine, and pet medications.
  • Lock the medicine cabinet.
  • Dispose of unused, unwanted, and expired medicine at a proper disposal site.
  • Take medicine(s) exactly as prescribed.
  • Talk to children about the dangers of prescription drug abuse.
