Carmel Will Become Purple Heart Town In April

PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- Patriots of Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 21 invites residents to attend the presentation of a Proclamation making Carmel a Purple Heart Town on Wednesday, April 1 at 7 p.m.

The event will take place at Carmel Town Hall at 60 McAlpin Ave. in Mahopac.

Putnam County was the first Purple Heart County in New York State, and Carmel will be the first Town in Putnam County.

Other veteran groups will be present along with the local high school band.
