Jossy Thomas of Franklin Lakes died on Saturday, April 26, 2025, following a courageous battle with illness, according to his obituary from the Vander Plaat Funeral Home website. He was 44 years old.
Thomas was Head of Trading at QTrade Capital Partners, where his sharp mind and strategic vision earned him respect and admiration," his obituary reads. He previously worked at UBS Investment Bank. A man who led a violent, drug-dealing burglary crew known as the “Route Boys” will spend over two decades in federal prison.
Jason Liriano, 25, of Brooklyn–also known as “jay bigfella”–was sentenced to 22 years behind bars in Central Islip federal court on Tuesday, April 29. It followed his September 2023 guilty plea to drug trafficking and firearms charges.

A 29-year-old man who was high on marijuana and driving nearly 100 miles per hour when he caused a triple-fatal crash on the Southern State Parkway will spend years behind bars.
Matthew Whyte, of Queens, was sentenced to between 4 ½ and 13 ½ years in prison in Nassau County Court on Thursday, April 24.

A man in the United States illegally was taken into federal custody after shoplifting from a Long Island mall, police said.
Rammeike Campbell, 27, of Queens, was arrested Monday, April 21, after he was caught stealing merchandise from both Macy’s and Forever 21 at the Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream, according to Nassau County Police.
Campbell concealed items in a shopping bag and walked out of Macy’s without paying, police said. After being stopped by loss prevention officers, he was arrested by responding Nassau officers without incident.

An Audi driver was caught racing at 125 mph on the Long Island Expressway in Melville late Friday, April 18, Suffolk County Police announced on Saturday, April 19.
Khadim Ndoye, 27, of Queens, was cited after officers with the Street Takeover Task Force spotted his 2018 Audi S5 racing a 2018 BMW westbound near Exit 49 around 11:50 p.m., according to police.
Ndoye was pulled over, cited for an unlawful speed contest and multiple traffic violations, and had his vehicle impounded, the department stated.

A suspected Colombian organized crime ring operating out of a black Jeep Grand Cherokee was busted after a wild traffic stop and foot chase in Pennsylvania, authorities announced on Monday, April 14.
