A Long Island crossing guard who was struck by a drug-impaired driver last week has died from his injuries, his union said Friday, March 6.
John M. Miro, 70, was working in Merrick around 8 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26 at the intersection of Sunrise Highway and Merrick Avenue when he was struck by a white 2020 Toyota Tacoma, Nassau County police said.

The 43-year-old prosecutor suffered "sudden unexpected death in epilepsy," The Virginian-Pilot reports, citing the State Medical Examiner's Office.
