A Long Island man took home $1.3 million after buying a second-prize-winning Powerball ticket at a gas station in Nassau County, officials revealed Tuesday, May 26.

A New York lottery player is $1 million richer after matching five numbers in the Monday, Sept. 1 Powerball drawing, officials said.
The winning numbers for Labor Day were 8, 23, 25, 40, and 53, with a Powerball of 5 and a Power Play multiplier of 3x, according to the Powerball website.

Maria Messina, of Aquebogue, claimed the seven-figure prize after matching the first five numbers in the March 26 Powerball drawing, according to the New York Lottery.
