A 66-year-old woman suffered a medical emergency while competing in the Point Lookout Triathlon on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025 at 8:18 a.m., police announced. According to Nassau County Police, fourth precinct officers responded to Point Lookout Town Park at 1300 Lido Boulevard after receiving a call for an aided case. The woman had been participating in the triathlon when she experienced a medical episode while in the water, investigators said. A 10-year-old boy was rescued from the waters near the Clearwater Beach Club in Atlantic Beach on Sunday, July 13, at 4:39 p.m., the Nassau County Police Department announced. The child had been swimming near the Jetty when he became distressed, according to police. Shark Bite Suspected After Woman Injured At Jones Beach
A 20-year-old woman was injured while swimming off Jones Beach State Park, and officials now believe a shark was to blame. The incident happened around 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, when the woman, waist-deep in the surf at the Central Mall beachfront, reported being bitten by an unknown marine animal. A shark sighting kept swimmers out of the water at three New York beaches. The sighting was reported on Long Island at Nickerson Beach in Nassau County.
