A sheriff’s deputy in Upstate New York could lose his job after accidentally firing a shotgun into his neighbor’s apartment on Thanksgiving, police said.
Saratoga County Sheriff’s deputy Alexander Stead, 32, of Milton, was arrested Wednesday, Dec. 3, on suspicion of second-degree reckless endangerment, the agency confirmed.
Stead, who was off duty at the time, accidentally discharged the shotgun and the round penetrated a wall separating his unit from an occupied unit at the Lilith Fair Apartments, police said. The Thanksgiving incident happened around 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 27.

A Waterbury police officer is under investigation and has been pulled from patrol duty after a traffic stop escalated into a pursuit, and a review showed the officer acted inappropriately, authorities said Tuesday, May 13.
The alleged incident happened Friday, May 2, shortly after 9 p.m., near West Main and Willow streets, when a patrol officer tried to stop a vehicle for making an illegal turn, according to Waterbury police. Instead of pulling over, the driver sped away, ignoring the officer’s commands.

Worcester Police Officer Allegedly Finagled Pay For Unassigned Off-Duty Work
A Worcester police officer was arrested for supposedly collecting almost $45,000 for off-duty assignments that he did not work, authorities and MassLive report.
Colby Turner, who was apparently requesting and receiving reimbursement for the assignments, was arrested on Monday, Aug. 1, police said on Facebook.
"At this time, we believe this is an isolated incident," Worcester police said. "We will review our policies and procedures related to off-duty assignments, and will be conducting an internal and external audit of the system."
