Rodolfo Alvarez, 35, copped to numerous charges including attempted murder, assault, and strangulation for the initial May 2024 attack at the couple’s Central Islip home, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said.

A shattered storefront window led police to a man standing inside a Long Island smoke shop during an early-morning burglary, authorities announced Sunday.
Officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress at Convenience and Smoke Shop, 2050 Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow, at 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22, according to the First Squad.
When they arrived, officers observed the front glass broken and located the suspect inside the store, detectives said.
