The female owner of a jewelry store that was robbed by a group of masked men in New Jersey is speaking out after the life-changing ordeal that lasted all of two minutes. Scooter-Riding Burglar Scared Off By Atlantic Beach Homeowner
Authorities are asking for tips after a Long Island homeowner scared off a would-be burglar. The attempted break-in occurred in Atlantic Beach, at a residence on Troy Avenue, at around 6 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 12. The homeowner was awoken by a stranger attempting to open an unlocked bedroom window, according to Nassau County Police. A phone call about a Chinese porn site ended with a suspected scammer in handcuffs. An 87-year-old Garden City woman contacted Nassau County Police at around 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, saying a man had called and informed her that a Chinese porn website had stolen money from her bank account. In order to rectify the situation, the man told her she needed to purchase a gold bar worth $97,875 and someone would come to her home and pick it up using a secret code. Police Recover $49K Taken From Bay Shore Resident In Scam
Police recovered nearly $50,000 that was taken from a Long Island man in a scam earlier this week. An 89-year-old Melville resident called a number he found on the Internet on Wednesday, Aug. 7, at approximately 1:30 p.m. to help him with a computer password problem. The person on the phone convinced him that his bank accounts had been hacked and that he needed to remove his money from the bank, according to Suffolk County Police.
