Wilfredo Blanco Molina, 41, of Hicksville, pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide and related charges in Nassau County Court on Tuesday, Sept. 30, in the death of 69-year-old Robert McCarthy.
Molina was driving a Chrysler Sebring eastbound on Old Country Road in Westbury around 3:40 a.m. on Oct. 27, 2024, when he struck McCarthy near the intersection of State Street, according to the DA’s office.

Eddie Ruiz, 47, was arrested Friday, Aug. 29, following a Sullivan County traffic stop in the town of Mamakating, according to the US Attorney’s Office.

Daniel Schultz, 40, of Levittown, was arrested after Seventh Precinct officers responded to the United States Post Office located at 1250 Wantagh Avenue on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 2:27 p.m., according to detectives.
Police said Schultz, an employee, had parcels of mail in his vehicle that did not belong to him. Officers observed the stolen mail in the back seat before taking him into custody without incident.

Two men were indicted in connection with the fentanyl overdose death of a Brentwood father whose 4-year-old daughter discovered his body.
Steven Pesantez, 29, of Brentwood, and Isaiah Skees, 27, of Bay Shore, were charged with multiple drug-related felonies in Suffolk County Court Thursday, Aug. 28, following a months-long investigation.
The case stems from the Feb. 12 death of a man in Brentwood who died of fentanyl intoxication, prosecutors said. His young daughter was the one to find him.
