Fake Toyota 'Salesman' Accused Of Scamming 77-Year-Old Out Of $13K On Long Island: Police
A Long Island man is accused of conning a 77-year-old car shopper out of nearly $14,000 by posing as a Toyota salesman in Valley Stream, Nassau County police announced on Tuesday, Jan. 13.
Navendra Balisingh, 22, of Ozone Park, was arrested following an investigation into the alleged scam at a Toyota dealership on West Sunrise Highway, detectives said.
The victim was at the Toyota dealership at 400 West Sunrise Highway around 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 27, when Balisingh allegedly approached him and claimed he worked there as a salesman, police said.

A Roosevelt woman struck an officer with her car while trying to flee Roosevelt Field Mall in East Garden City, Nassau County police announced on Saturday, Sept. 20.
Shaquanna Gibbs, 26, of Roosevelt, was behind the wheel of a white Honda Accord when she exited a parking spot in the Roosevelt Field Mall garage and hit an officer’s patrol vehicle around 6:26 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, detectives said.

A Manhattan man is facing federal charges after authorities found more than 33 pounds of cocaine hidden inside a secret compartment of his car during a Hudson Valley traffic stop, prosecutors alleged.
Eddie Ruiz, 47, was arrested Friday, Aug. 29, following a Sullivan County traffic stop in the town of Mamakating, according to the US Attorney’s Office.
