Duo Fatally Shoots Man Inside Capital Region Home, Police Say
Two men are behind bars on murder charges after allegedly gunning down a man inside a home in the region.
Multiple people called 911 shortly before 7 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, reporting gunshots at a Schenectady home on State Street near Grove Place, according to Schenectady Police.
When officers arrived, they found a 42-year-old man on the second floor suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim, identified as Leroy Chisom, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

'Sadness, Anger' After 8 Fatal Drug Overdoses In 8 Days Reported In Capital Region City
Police in the region are sounding the alarm after eight people died from drug overdoses in as many days.
All eight deaths occurred in Schenectady between Saturday, July 1, and Saturday, July 8, according to police.
The most recent occurred in the city’s Stockade neighborhood. An autopsy revealed that the person died from drug intoxication.

16-Year-Old Missing Nearly Week May Be Traveling Through Region, Police Say
Police are asking for help in locating a 16-year-old New York girl who has been missing for nearly a week and may be traveling over 100 miles away from home.
Amalia Colon, of Schenectady, was last seen on Thursday, April 27, Schenectady Police announced on Wednesday, May 3.
Investigators said the teen may be with a female friend and may have traveled to the Bronx.
Colon is described as a white female, 5-feet-4-inches tall and 120 pounds, with brown hair, brown eyes, and a nose piercing.

Capital District Man Sentenced After Admitting To Selling Meth
A Capital District man will spend more than six years in federal prison after admitting to selling methamphetamine.
James King, age 33, of Schenectady, was sentenced to 78 months behind bars Thursday, April 28, after pleading guilty to possessing and intending to distribute meth, the US Attorney’s Office said.
King told investigators that between February and March 2021, he sold meth twice and possessed the drug with intent to distribute in March 2021, prosecutors said.
Altogether, he admitted to selling more than 150 grams of meth.

Woman Arrested For Driving While High In Area, Having Stolen Credit Cards, Police Say
An area woman is behind bars after police found that she was allegedly driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and in possession of several stolen credit cards.
Destiny S. Pettway, age 30, of Newburgh, was arrested on Tuesday, Jan. 26, by New York State Police after troopers responded to a report of a sick person on I-87 in the town of Bethlehem, said Trooper Tara McCormick.
According to McCormick, while interviewing Pettaway, troopers determined that she was intoxicated and in possession of drugs, as well as several stolen credit cards.
