At 9 p.m., firefighters responded to the 200 block of Center Street in Port Morris on a report of smoke coming from a basement, Roxbury Fire and First Aid Company 2 said.  Upon arrival, an electric scooter was found to be on fire in the basement, firefighters said. Cement Truck Overturns On Route 287: Njsp A cement truck overturned following a crash on Route 287 in Morris County on the early morning of Wednesday, Aug. 14, authorities said. At 2:07 a.m., a cement truck collided with a passenger vehicle on Route 287 north in Parsippany-Troy Hills Township, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. Following the crash, the cement truck overturned, Lebron said. No injuries were reported and the crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.

The truck overturned at 7:38 a.m. on Route 287 in Morris Township south of Exit 34, the NJDOT said. Two left lanes are closed, causing a 35 to 40 minute delay, the NJDOT said.

Purse Snatchers At Large In Newark (Photo) Police are looking for three people wanted for snatching a woman's purse at a restaurant in Newark on Saturday, Aug. 10.  At 2 p.m., a woman left her purse on the table after dining outside at Ferry Street Barbecue at 89 Ferry Street, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. The suspect were captured on surveillance video taking her purse, containing her personal belongings, including $150 and credit cards, authorities said.
