Problems investigators found in a Marine reservist’s past should have kept ICE from hiring him, former officials told The Washington Post after his death outside the agency’s Philadelphia field office.
Joseph “Joe” Thomas Moore, 38, a father of two, died outside the office on Friday, Aug. 28, after learning he would lose his job, the newspaper reported.
Moore died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the neck, and his death was ruled a suicide, Philadelphia Department of Public Health spokesperson Jason Brooks told Daily Voice on behalf of the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Starving Dog Rescued From Shocking Conditions In Suffolk County Basement: Officials
A young Long Island man left a starving dog locked in a basement with little to eat, authorities said Wednesday, Sept. 16.
Isaiah Thomas, 20, of Wheatley Heights, was arrested Tuesday, Sept. 15 on two animal cruelty charges, the Suffolk County SPCA said.
Thomas owned a 4-year-old Cane Corso named Apollo, then confined the dog to a basement secured by a metal door that was held closed by three vehicle tires, investigators said.
