A man was sentenced to 40 years to life in prison for murdering his ex-fiancée in an underground parking garage on Long Island. The shooting occurred on March 31, 2022, in the New Hyde Park garage of the medical facility where the victim worked. Quay Sean Hines, age 33, of Bay Shore, was convicted in September of second-degree murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the fatal shooting of 33-year-old Amelia Laguerre. A Long Island pastor is accused of sexually abusing a man. Thomas Moriarty, age 62, of New Hyde Park, was arrested Thursday, Oct. 31, following an investigation by the Nassau County Police Department’s Special Victims Squad. According to police, Moriarty – who is a pastor at Church of the Holy Spirit in New Hyde Park – sexually abused a 22-year-old man in Oceanside on Saturday, Oct. 26. A Long Island man has been apprehended after authorities say he impersonated an officer. According to Nassau County Police detectives, Seth Newman, age 21, of Great Neck, was driving a black 2021 Dodge Charger in New Hyde Park in the vicinity of Marcus Avenue and New Hyde Park Road at around noontime Sunday, Oct. 27. A Long Island business was heavily damaged by an alleged drunk driver. The incident happened in New Hyde Park, at the Touch of Class II salon on Jericho Turnpike, at around 1:15 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27. Nassau County Police said officers arrived to find an unoccupied Acura sedan just outside the building’s front exterior. The impact shattered two large windows and toppled part of a brick wall.
