4 Firefighters Injured In Yonkers Blaze, Families Displaced (Update) Four firefighters were injured while battling a blaze in Westchester that left multiple families without a home, officials said. The fire happened at 21 Van Cortlandt Park Ave. in Yonkers on Thursday, Jan. 16, and began on the third floor at around 1 p.m., according to the Yonkers Fire Department.  Deputy Chief of Personnel Joseph Citrone said four firefighters suffered minor injuries and conditions during the incident, such as sprains and heat exhaustion, and were hospitalized. Serious Crash Closes Route 9 Stretch In Garrison (Developing) A stretch of Route 9 in the Hudson Valley is closed as the result of a serious crash. The crash, which happened on Friday, Jan. 17 around 1:45 p.m. in Putnam County, has left Route 9 closed in Garrison in the area of Old Highland Turnpike, the Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services announced.  Police and first responders are operating in the area. Motorists are asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes. The road will remain closed for an "extended period of time," officials said. This is a developing story. Driver Rescued From Flipped Car In North Salem Firefighters had to free a driver from their overturned vehicle following a crash in Northern Westchester. The incident happened on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 6:20 a.m. when a car rolled over on Titicus Road (Route 116) in North Salem, the Croton Falls Fire Department said on Thursday, Jan. 16.  Arriving fire crews found that the driver was trapped inside and worked to stabilize the vehicle with struts and cribbing.  Once they finished stabilizing it, crews removed the car's sidewall to get to the driver.  The response took around an hour.
