21-Year-Old Hit, Killed Firefighter In Hewlett Before Fleeing Scene, Police Say
A 21-year-old suspect is behind bars weeks after a hit-and-run crash killed a volunteer firefighter on Long Island.
Emergency crews in Hewlett were called about a fatal crash near Broadway and Everit Avenue shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18.
Jeffrey Frank, 74, was crossing Broadway when he was struck by an SUV traveling northbound. Witnesses told Nassau County Police that a male driver exited the vehicle, dragged Frank to the side of the road, and then fled the scene.
Frank, of Hewlett, was pronounced dead at the hospital, as Daily Voice reported.

Driver, 40, Arrested In Deadly Hit-Run Long Island Crash: Police
A Suffolk County man has been arrested and charged in connection with a hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian last week, authorities announced Wednesday, Dec. 4.
Seth Miller, 40, of Smithtown, was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Incident with a Fatality in the Nov. 27 crash in Bohemia that killed Joan Foley, 59, of Central Islip, Suffolk County police said.
Foley was struck while crossing Veterans Memorial Highway at 5th Avenue around 5:15 a.m. Miller fled the scene after the crash and Foley was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fatal Hit-Run Crash: Suspect Nabbed On Long Island
A Long Island man has been arrested following a months-long investigation into a fatal hit-and-run.
Southampton Town Police said Benjamin J. SheenWaltzer, age 32, turned himself in on Friday, Nov. 15, after being linked to a crash on Springville Road in Hampton Bays.
The crash on Wednesday, March 6 killed Angel Astimbay, age 67, a resident of Hampton Bays.
SheenWaltzer, of Southampton, faces felony charges of:
Leaving the scene of an accident with injuries resulting in death,
Tampering with physical evidence.
He was arraigned in Suffolk County Court and released on $50,000 bail.

Angry Driver Intentionally Mowed Down Employees Outside Long Island School, DA Says
An accused hit-and-run driver who struck two employees outside a Long Island school, injuring them, intentionally targeted the pair, prosecutors allege.
Josef McLorrain, age 22, of Brooklyn, was indicted on attempted murder and related charges in Suffolk County Court on Wednesday, Aug. 7.
Prosecutors said McLorrain was driving a Mazda SUV in the parking lot of Eastern Suffolk BOCES’ Bellport Academic Center, located on Martha Avenue, on the morning of Monday, June 24.
