The 20-year-old woman struck and killed by an NJ Transit train last month in Bergen County had been working as an EMT for the last year or more, confirmed with Daily Voice. Arfa Hoque, 20, of East Rutherford, was killed by the train near the Rutherford Station at approximately 1 a.m. on Feb. 26, according to NJ Transit spokesmen Kyalo Mulumba and spokesman John Chartier. Hoque's LinkedIn page shows she has been an EMT in Lyndhurst since April 2024, and has been a member of the East Rutherford Fire Department's Emergency Medical Squad since 2021. A person was killed after being struck by a Metro-North train in the region. The incident occurred in Dutchess County around 11:30 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 8, in New Hamburg, a hamlet of Poughkeepsie.
