Four days after becoming a tropical storm, Sara is expected to soon swing north toward the US coast. First, heavy rainfall will cause potential catastrophic flash flooding and mudslides as it moves across northern Honduras and Belize on Sunday, Nov. 17, according to the National Hurricane Center. A new system that could strengthen into a named tropical storm in days is on a path toward the East Coast. According to the National Hurricane Center, "the system could gradually acquire subtropical or tropical characteristics thereafter over the warm waters of the Gulf Stream, and a subtropical or tropical depression or storm could form early next week while the system moves generally northwestward toward the coast." Tropical System In Atlantic Could Become Named Storm, Affect East Coast: What To Know Now
A new tropical rainstorm in the Atlantic may strengthen into a named storm and affect parts of the East Coast. According to the National Hurricane Center, a tropical depression could form late this week while the system is near the Greater Antilles or the Bahamas. (See the first image above.)
