Retired Nypd Chief Drowns In Backyard Pool; Found By Family Member: Police A retired NYPD chief who spent decades protecting New Yorkers drowned in a backyard pool at his Long Island home, authorities said. Anthony J. Izzo, 75, of Stony Brook, was found by a family member in the pool at his Malverne Lane home at approximately 7:45 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 7, according to the Suffolk County Police Department. Sixth Precinct officers and members of the Stony Brook Fire Department pulled Izzo from the pool and performed CPR, police said.
