The Stone Goat – located in St. James at 552 North Country Road – held its soft opening on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
Under the direction of owner Nick Gounaris, the eatery features an upscale dining room on the main level with a pub-like menu and bar upstairs.
Though its official website and menu weren’t immediately available, an Eventbrite announcement showed a tantalizing spread that included a raw oyster bar, duck sliders, steak tartar crostini, and wild boar ragu.
Diners can also opt for the seafood dumplings, made with lobster, shrimp, scallops, kimchi, and chili-ponzu, or the capellini pomodoro with portobello mushrooms and fresh mozzarella.
The cocktail menu is equally impressive – try the bourbon root beer float with homemade milk-washed bourbon.
Among those lucky enough to snag a table on opening night was Dean Riskin, of Merrick, who raved about the experience on Facebook.
“They killed it. First of all, their aged steaks are right on point as well as the sides. The cocktails were well presented and delicious,” he said.
“The lobster mashed was unbelievable and so creamy with just the right amount of lumps. Our other guest had the short rib lobster risotto. He said it was the best he ever ate.”
The Stone Goat is open daily. Find out more on its website.
