Firefighter Falls Through Floor While Battling Blaze At Home In Region
A firefighter fell through a floor during the response to a blaze at a Northern Westchester residence. The blaze began on Tuesday, Oct. 29 inside the laundry room at a North Salem home on Nash Road, according to the Croton Falls Fire Department. Arriving fire crews soon began dousing the flames with hose lines and started making their way inside. Major Brush Fire In Region Spreads Smoke For Miles
A major brush fire over at least a dozen acres in the Hudson Valley produced smoke that spread across the New York border into Connecticut. The blaze broke out at around 12:05 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 in Putnam County in the area of Route 301 and East Boyds Road in the town of Kent and was finally contained late in the day on Sunday, Oct. 27. Car Crashes Over Guardrail, Causing Road Closure In Region
A busy Hudson Valley road was closed for around an hour after a vehicle crashed over the guardrail into the woods. The crash happened in Putnam County on Sunday, Aug. 18 around 3:30 p.m., when a car crashed over a guardrail on Route 32 (Crane Road) in the area of Angela Drive in the town of Carmel, according to the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department. No injuries were reported and both the driver and passenger refused ambulance trips. Route 32 was closed for about an hour as the vehicle was towed away.

Van Plunges Into Lake In Hudson Valley
Firefighters had to ensure no hazardous fluids entered a Hudson Valley lake after a van plunged into it. The crash happened in Putnam County on Tuesday, July 30, when a van drove into Lake Mahopac on South Lake Boulevard, according to the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department. After the incident, crews used hazardous material absorbent booms around the van to absorb any potential vehicle fluid leaks as it was removed from the water. The cause of the crash was not released.

2-Car Crash Shuts Down Busy Hudson Valley Intersection, Sends Person To Hospital
A two-vehicle crash caused a busy Hudson Valley intersection to close for almost an hour and caused injuries. The collision happened in Putnam County on Sunday, July 21 just after 5:30 p.m., when two cars crashed at the intersection of Route 6 and Croton Falls Road (Route 34) in Mahopac. According to the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department, one person received medical transport while another was taken to a hospital. The intersection was closed for around 40 minutes until the cars involved were removed.

Blaze Sparks At Northern Westchester Restaurant
A blaze at a Northern Westchester restaurant was stopped from being worse than it could have been thanks to the quick actions of firefighters. The fire happened on Monday, June 6 just after 2:30 a.m. at Coral Seafood Restaurant in Yorktown Heights at 63 Route 6, according to the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department, which helped respond to the blaze. Thanks to the work of fire crews, more extensive damage to the building was prevented, the department said. The cause of the fire was not released.
