Head-On Crash Kills 25-Year-Old Woman In Hudson Valley A 25-year-old woman was killed in a head-on crash in the Hudson Valley. The Ulster County wreck happened at around 5:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1, on State Route 209 in Hurley, according to New York State Police. A Mercedes-Benz was heading southbound when the driver attempted to legally pass another vehicle in the northbound lane. At the same time, a pickup truck approached heading northbound. The pickup driver went onto the eastern shoulder in an attempt to avoid a collision, but the Mercedes also swerved into the shoulder, where it collided with the pickup head-on, police said. Man, Woman Killed In Home Explosion In Hudson Valley Two people were killed in a house explosion in the Hudson Valley. Emergency crews in Ulster County responded to a residence on Brueckner Lane in the town of Hurley for an explosion at around noon Wednesday, March 19, according to New York State Police. Firefighters found the home completely leveled and engulfed in flames. Further investigation revealed that two residents–Ralph Brueckner, 75, and Cheryl Hathaway, 58–were both killed in the blast, police said.
