Truck Swerves To Avoid Animal, Ends Up On Its Side On Route 9G In Hudson Valley A man walked away without injuries after his truck struck a telephone pole and rolled over in Dutchess County when he swerved to avoid an animal.  The crash happened in Red Hook at around 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26, on Route 9G near Peach Tree Court, the Red Hook Police Department said on Sunday, Nov. 30. According to the department, a 2022 GMC dual-wheel pickup was heading north when the driver swerved to avoid an animal in the roadway. Gas Leak Forces Evacuations In Hudson Valley Neighborhood; Crews Still Working On Repairs Dozens of Hudson Valley families were forced out of their homes after a gas leak sparked an emergency evacuation. The Orange County incident began around 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, when the Town of Woodbury Police Department received reports of a possible gas leak on Helene Circle. Emergency crews responded and detected elevated gas levels in multiple homes, police said. As a safety precaution, officials ordered evacuations on Helene Circle, Fox Meadow, Plum Court, Teal Court, Sycamore Court, and Walnut Way. Manhole Explosion: Mother, Children Escape Injury In Hudson Valley (Video) A mother and her children were just feet away when two manholes exploded on a busy Dutchess County street, which also prompted evacuations, street closures, and a major response from fire crews and utility officials.  The explosions occurred in Poughkeepsie on Saturday, April 19, at around 1:30 p.m. on Academy Street, between Church and Cannon streets, according to the City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department.   One manhole cover in the middle of the block blew off with such force that it narrowly missed the mother and her kids.
