A man was shot and killed by police on Long Island after pointing what appeared to be a shotgun at officers during a domestic disturbance.
The shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, in Carle Place, Nassau County Police said.
Officers responded to a home on Rushmore Avenue after receiving a 911 call from a woman reporting that her 33-year-old son, identified as James Rosano, was “out of control,” highly intoxicated, and refused to leave the residence.

A “distressing” 911 call led to a Capital Region man in handcuffs, accused of fatally shooting his roommate with a BB gun, police said.
Saratoga Springs Police responded to a residence on Warren Street early Sunday, April 6, for a report that a man had shot his roommate with a BB gun and the victim was bleeding and having difficulty breathing, according to police.
When officers arrived, they found Michael Collins, 27, seriously injured. Despite life-saving efforts, Collins was pronounced dead at Albany Medical Center, police said.
