Would-Be Burglars Fail At Nassau County Break-In But Escape Police: Authorities A would-be burglary was thwarted on Long Island, but the suspects escaped the scene, police said Tuesday, Sept. 1. Cops responded to a burglary on Plainfield Lane in North Woodmere around 4:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, the Nassau County Police Department said. The caller reported a possible break-in, and officers determined someone had tried and failed to enter the home, police said. The failed burglars then fled in an unknown direction, cops said.
