Woman, Puppy Killed In Single-Vehicle Highway Crash In Capital Region A woman was killed in a single-vehicle highway crash in the Capital Region that also claimed the life of a puppy. The Rensselaer County wreck happened on I-90, near exit 9 in East Greenbush, shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28. A Pleasant Valley man, 49, was driving eastbound when the vehicle veered off the right shoulder, struck a tree, and overturned before coming to rest in a wooded area, New York State Police said. The investigation into the incidents began on Friday, Dec. 13, when several vehicle break-ins were reported in the Rensselaer County town of Sand Lake, New York State Police announced on Thursday, Dec. 26.  Police found that various items, including credit cards, had been stolen. John F. Rivers, age 43, of East Greenbush, was charged on Friday, Dec. 6, for using his towing company, Rivers Asset Recovery, to steal and sell vehicles towed from parking lots across the Capital Region, said New York Attorney General Letitia James. Not So Fast: Wanted Fisherman Tries Fleeing From Capital Region Cops In Rideshare, Police Say In hindsight, it probably wasn’t the most efficient means of escape. A Greene County fisherman found himself in handcuffs after he allegedly attempted to flee from police in a rideshare vehicle. The incident happened Tuesday, July 2, along Catskill Creek in the town of Durham.  Officers with the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) spotted a man and woman fishing and asked for their fishing licenses. According to the agency, the man did not have an ID and gave them the name and birthdate of someone else with an active fishing license.  A check of his motorcycle’s …
