$30K 'Chase Courier' Scammer Duped NY Woman, Police Say — Here's How To Protect Yourself A 71-year-old Long Island woman was conned out of $30,000 by a man allegedly posing as a bank courier, and police believe he may have scammed others too. The North Merrick victim received a text message on Thursday, May 22, warning of “fraudulent activity” on her Apple account. That was followed by a call from a man claiming to be a Chase bank representative, who told her to immediately withdraw $30,000 in cash, Nassau County Police said.
