ID Released For 20-Year-Old Killed In LIE Crash Involving Alleged Impaired Driver In Islandia The identity has been released of a person killed in an overnight crash on the  Long Island Expressway involved an allegedly impaired driver. It happened around 1:15 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, in Islandia Medford resident Alan Mercado, age 67, was driving a 2010 Honda on the westbound side near Exit 57, when he attempted to move from the center to the right lane and was struck from behind by a 2017 Yamaha motorcycle. Mark Small, age 57, of Elmont, was found guilty of murder and related charges in Nassau County Court on Thursday, Sept. 26, in the death of 39-year-old Marivel Estevez. Prosecutors said Small entered Estevez’s penthouse apartment at the Allure Mineola apartment complex on Old Country Road sometime overnight on July 28, 2022. Man Accused Of Driving Drunk After Crashing Into Police Cruiser On LIE In Dix Hills A man has been accused of driving while intoxicated after he crashed his car into a marked police vehicle on the Long Island Expressway. The incident happened around 10:20 p.m. Saturday, June 29, in Dix Hills, on the westbound side near Exit 50.
