Suffolk County Police said the incident occurred around 10 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, in Babylon.

Multiple 911 callers reported a vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Route 231.

The vehicle, a 2021 Kia Forte, crossed over the median and continued south in the proper lanes, hitting road signs along the way.

The driver, identified as Lorrie Ibe, age 54, of West Babylon, then drove through the intersection at East Main Street, over another median, through a fence, and crashed into a boat parked on land in front of 270 East Main St. according to police.

The boat caught fire, and the flames spread to three additional boats before being extinguished by the Babylon Fire Department.

First Precinct patrol officers and a bystander pulled Ibe from her car. She was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip with non-life-threatening injuries.

Ibe was charged with driving while intoxicated and is set to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a time to be determined.
