A Capital Region man has been charged with burglary after allegedly stealing over $3,000 worth of materials from a storage container in Halfmoon, police report.
New York State Police announced the arrest of Ron D. Vandenburgh, 36, of Latham, on Tuesday, Dec. 17, following a warrant for his alleged involvement in a burglary and theft in Halfmoon.

41-Year-Old Killed After Being Struck By Multiple Vehicles In Capital Region
A man was killed after being struck by multiple vehicles on a roadway in the region.
The incident happened just before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, in Saratoga County on Route 146 near the intersection of Route 9 in Clifton Park.
New York State Police say an investigation determined Christopher E. Merritt, age 41, of Spring Hill, Florida, was walking across the roadway, not in a crosswalk, when he was struck by two vehicles traveling eastbound.

Saratoga County eatery Kati Roll Wala, located in Clifton Park at 309 Clifton Park Center Road, held its grand opening Monday, Oct. 30.
The star of the show is the Kati roll, an Indian layered flatbread wrap typically filled with coriander chutney, egg, and chicken.
Diners can choose from over a dozen such wraps, including the Paneer Tikka Roll, made with Indian cottage cheese, marinated in spicy tandoori marinade, grilled, and wrapped in Indian roti bread.

Box Truck Hits, Kills 41-Year-Old Man On Capital Region Roadway
A man was struck and killed while walking on a roadway in the region.
The Saratoga County incident happened at around 5 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, on Route 9 in the town of Halfmoon, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.
Michael Blackburn, age 41, was walking along Route 9 near Sitterly Road when he was struck by a box car.
Blackburn, of Clifton Park, was taken to Samaritan Hospital where he died from his injuries, deputies said.
The 41-year-old truck driver, of Saugerties in Ulster County, was not injured and remained at the scene.

Capital Region Man Caught With Stolen RV From Dealership, Police Say
A man from the region is facing charges after police linked him to a stolen RV that was taken from a local dealership.
Saratoga County resident Andrew Castle, age 50, of Mechanicville, was arrested Tuesday, Sept. 26, by New York State Police.
According to troopers, the agency was first contacted on Friday, Aug. 25, about an RV that was missing from a Clifton Park dealership.
The vehicle, valued at over $50,000, was later found in Schaghticoke in Rensselaer County. Investigators determined that Castle was in possession of it.

A homeowner in the region claims they were scammed out of thousands of dollars by a contractor who never actually did any work.
Saratoga County resident Dakota Smith, age 28, of Malta, was arrested Wednesday, Sept. 13, on fraud and larceny charges, according to State Police.
Troopers determined that Smith, who owns DAS Builders & Remodeling LLC, entered into an agreement with the Clifton Park homeowner for a renovation project.
The homeowner contacted police in June 2023 saying they gave Smith a deposit of over $18,000 but he never started the work or purchased the needed materials.

Lucky Duck: $1,000,000 Lottery Prize Claimed By Capital Region Woman
A woman from the region has claimed a winning lottery prize worth $1 million.
Saratoga County resident Patricia Van Buren, of Clifton Park, hit it big on the Powerball drawing held July 5, matching five numbers and clinching the second prize, New York Lottery announced.
Van Buren received a lump sum payment of $651,000 after required withholdings.
The lucky ticket was purchased in Clifton Park, at the Halfmoon Sunoco on Route 146.
New York’s Powerball game generated over $516.8 million in total sales during fiscal year 2022-2023, according to lottery officials.
